Sacral Tarlov Cysts and Meningoceles

While Tarlov cysts are not rare, Tarlov cyst syndrome with severe sacral pain and its associated findings are quite rare affecting approximately 1 in 40,000 persons in the United States. Dr. Henderson has published widely on this condition and has described a surgical approach for treatment of the disorder. The Metropolitan Neurosurgery Group has experience involving hundreds of Tarlov cyst patients, many have traveled to the United States for treatment after being referred by international physicians.

Surgical treatment options are sacral laminectomy and resection of sacral Tarlov cysts, and resection of meningoceles.
